Common Questions

Frequently asked

What dental insurance does Rocky Mount Family Dentistry accept?

We're in-network with Delta Dental, Cigna, and United Concordia. We also accept Aetna, MetLife, Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Guardian, and Principal. If you don't see your plan listed, call us at 540-489-8191 — we likely work with it.

What does 'in-network' actually mean for me?

In-network means we've agreed to your insurance company's fee schedule, which typically results in lower out-of-pocket costs for you. Out-of-network providers can still treat you and file claims, but you may pay the difference between our fees and what your insurance covers.

Will you file my insurance claims for me?

Yes. Bring your insurance card to your first visit and we'll handle the paperwork. We'll also verify your benefits before treatment so you know what's covered and what you'll owe.

What if I don't have insurance?

Our in-office Virginia Dental Club membership replaces traditional insurance with one transparent annual fee. It covers two cleanings and exams, all routine X-rays, plus 20% off most additional treatment — no deductibles, no waiting periods, no claim forms. Plans start at $269/year for kids and $349/year for adults.

Why doesn't my plan cover certain treatments?

Dental insurance is built around an annual maximum (usually $1,500–$2,500) and tiered coverage: preventive care typically 100%, basic procedures 70–80%, major work 50%. Cosmetic procedures (like veneers or whitening) are almost never covered. We'll always explain what's covered before we start.

What happens if my insurance doesn't cover something we recommend?

We'll explain the cost up front and discuss alternatives. CareCredit financing can spread treatment across monthly payments — often at 0% interest. Virginia Dental Club members get 20% off most treatments regardless of insurance status.
